U.S. Senator Ron Wyden held a town hall meeting Friday at Centennial High School, where he took questions from students and adults, alike, as well as took the time to honor Centennial's Future Business Leaders of America members who recently were featured in the Outlook for their work in creating a mobile food pantry out of an old school bus.

Seeing a big yellow school bus roll down the street is typically a sign that school’s in session, but students at Centennial High School have given it a different meaning.

 

Members of the Future Business Leaders of American (FBLA) organziation at the high school have repurposed an out-of-work school bus to be a mobile food pantry for the community.

Centennial HS students turn old bus into food bank

Centennial High School business students spent the past year converting an old school bus into a mobile food bank.  "We call it Food for Families," said Patricia Juarez. "People are so thankful."

 

Monday, the students distributed 1,000 pounds of vegetables, produce and bread to more than 40 families.

Centennial High goes big with annual food drive

By the estimates of Centennial High School students, it will take 1,700 boxes of food to fill a school bus.

 

This is the goal as the student council and Future Business Leaders of America kick off Centennial’s annual canned food drive Thursday, Nov. 13, and running through Tuesday, Nov. 25.
